# Audit Log

The administration events that PixieBrix records for your team, and what each field means

The Audit Log records administration changes that team Admins and Managers make to your team, such as changes to members, groups, deployments, and integration configurations. Each entry shows who made the change, what changed, and when.

The Audit Log records administration changes only. It does not record sign-ins or the activity of team members who use mods.

### Viewing the Audit Log

You must have the Admin or Manager role to view the Audit Log.

* **Team:** Go to `https://app.pixiebrix.com/teams/<team ID>/audit/`. To find your team ID, open your team in the [Admin Console](https://app.pixiebrix.com/). The team ID is the part of the URL after `/teams/`.
* **Group:** In the [Admin Console](https://app.pixiebrix.com/), open the group, then click the Audit Log tab.
* **Deployment:** In the [Admin Console](https://app.pixiebrix.com/), open the deployment, then click the Audit Log tab.

{% hint style="warning" %}
The team Audit Log page can show a maximum of 1,000 events. If your team has more than 1,000 events, the page shows an error. To get all the events, use the API with pagination. See [Team Management APIs](/developer-api/team-management-apis.md).
{% endhint %}

{% hint style="info" %}
When you delete a group or a deployment, you cannot open its Audit Log tab. Past events for it stay in the team Audit Log.
{% endhint %}

#### Target object and action object

The `target_object` is the main item that changed, for example a team, group, or deployment.

The `action_object` is a second item in the change, if there is one. For example, when a member is added to a group, the `target_object` is the group and the `action_object` is the member. If the change has only one item, `action_object` is `null`.

Both objects have the same fields:

| Field          | Description                                                                                                                      |

| `id`           | The ID of the item                                                                                                               |
| `content_type` | The type of item, for example `organization`, `group`, `package deployment`, or `service credential` (integration configuration) |
| `label` | The name of the item. For a user, the label is the email address. |

The `data` object shows the details of the change. The fields in `data` change with the action type.

| Field                             | Action types                                | Description                                                                                                       |

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://docs.pixiebrix.com/managing-teams/audit-log.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
